Kaiwa Slope: Intermediate to Advanced Skier

The first slope available for skiing at Yokote-yama Ski Resort is the Kaiwa Slope. Access to the slope is provided by the short 4th Pair Lift at Yokote-yama, which grants access to a relatively long intermediate slope with a semicircular layout. It’s perfect for warming up at the beginning of the season, featuring a variety of widths thanks to natural snow and snowmaking machines from November onwards.

First Slope: Beginner and Family-Friendly

  • Maximum Slope: 10 degrees

The First Slope is a beginner-friendly course at the Yokote-yama Shibutoge Ski Resort, perfect for those experiencing skiing or snowboarding for the first time and families. This course features gentle slopes and spans over 1000 meters in distance, making it suitable for beginners and families learning to ski.

Second Slope: Intermediate to Advanced Skiers

  • Maximum Slope: 24 degrees
  • Average Slope: 16 degrees
  • Lift: 2nd Sky Lift

The Second Slope at Yokote-yama Ski Resort is the most popular and accessible slope, offering a satisfying skiing experience. One of its notable features is the high-speed triple lift, which allows skiers to descend from the summit, offering stunning views on clear days, including panoramic views of Zenkoji Plain centered around Nagano City. It’s a favorite among skiers for its long runs and varied terrain. Additionally, there are beginner-friendly forested trails available.

First and Second Jumbo Courses: Non-groomed Trails

  • Run Distance: Approximately 800 meters
  • Maximum Slope: 35 degrees
  • Average Slope: 30 degrees
  • Lift: 2nd Sky Lift, 3rd Sky Lift

Access to the First Jumbo Course is available from the detour course from the summit. This course is a steep non-groomed trail that cannot be opened unless there is sufficient snowfall. It offers the highest grade powder of the Shiga Highlands. However, due to its narrow width, it is suitable only for those who can confidently control their skiing or snowboarding.

The 5th and 6th slopes transition from gentle to intermediate slopes, offering a varied skiing experience. Utilizing single lifts, they provide a nostalgic, retro feel reminiscent of the Showa era, allowing skiers to glide at a leisurely pace and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. These slopes cater to a wide range of skiers, from intermediate to beginner levels.

The Weaver Course in the Shibutoge area is a popular area for enjoying powder snow, cherished by skiers and snowboarders alike. With its steep slopes and dynamic scenery, it offers exhilarating experiences while enjoying the best powder. Being relatively new, it provides a thoroughly enjoyable experience predominantly on intermediate slopes.

The Shibutoge area boasts diverse terrain, offering plenty of excitement for skiers. Its wide expanse is ideal for those who enjoy carving skis.
